The CW is really knocking it out of the park this year. They have great new shows with Ringer, Hart of Dixie, Secret Circle. Even Vampire Diaries and 90210 are hitting their stride in their third and fourth seasons. From the trashily sensational to the seriously spectacular the CW is putting out fantastic programming that’s not just for just for teens. They have been so on this season it almost makes me want to start watching Gossip Girl. Tune in!

Mark Harris from Grantland runs down this years David v. Goliath Best Actor race.
“There are many ways of looking at a Best Actor Oscar race. You can ask yourself who gave the year’s strongest performances. You can think about who’s overdue, who’s surprising, who works the circuit effectively, who exceeds expectations, who elevates his movie the most by his presence in it. But ultimately, the question that decides the nominations is always this one: Who do actors want to vote for?”

Big mistake on NBC’s part. First they gave a full season pickup to Whitney, which is awful, then they cancel Free Agents, which was awesome. Now, they bench Community which is one of the most genius shows on tv, let alone NBC. It’s one of the few truly original shows NBC has going for it. Grimm is like Once Upon a Time, Smash is NBC’s answer to Glee, and Whitney is like New Girl, only not funny. There is nothing else like Community on television.
You should really watch…The Hunger Games trailer!!! I have been freaking out about this all day!!

Rating: 7/10
Worth Seeing: It’s a cute, very well-made movie about a relationship. Did it change my life? No, but it sure as hell makes you want to be in love.
Oscar Chances: Despite recognition for the film and Felicity Jones’ performance at Sundance, this is not the kind of movie that has the gravitas the Academy is usually looking for. Maybe it can squeeze into the newly expanded Best Picture field. However, I cannot praise Felicity Jones enough for her performance. She may not get a nomination, but I definitely have a lady crush on her.

Worth seeing: Yes, probably only once
Oscar Chances: Elizabeth Olsen definitely deserves a best actress nomination but the slots are filling up quickly. Michelle Williams, Glenn Close, Meryl Streep are almost guaranteed nominations from the reviews coming out of their films, and Meryl Streep could star in a Julia Child biopic and still get nominated… oh wait, she did. Kirsten Dunst and Tilda Swinton are also favored to get nominations. She would have to upset one of those, most likely, to get a nomination, but nevertheless her performance is definitely deserving of all the recognition she’s been receiving. I can’t say enough good things about her. Not only was her performance heartbreaking and entirely believable, but it was so compelling to watch, which is extraordinary coming from someone’s first leading role. She is definitely one to watch!
Summary: The film opens with Martha, played by Elizabeth Olsen, running away from a farm house. It follows Martha in two timelines: First her life living on a commune with a cult and two, the aftermath of that life where she goes to stay with her sister in an effort to escape the cult. A suspenseful, well-written psychological thriller that stays with you days later.
